About Us

In the heart of the Nikolaiviertel you can start a wonderful journey through time. Passing the massive swing door you find yourself in the world of the Golden Twenties.

The restaurant which is kept in yellow-brown colours is lovingly decorated with photographs of famous movie and theatre stars such as Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn, Aniter Berber or Clark Gable and well-known expressionistic and naturalistic pictures of August Macke, Franz Marc, Kandinsky or Otto Dix.

The atmosphere of the Golden Twenties is underlined by the flair of Parisian coffee houses with their dark wood panelling in combination with the bordeaux leather of the benches and chairs.
The Jugendstil lamps with their flower design give off warm light also on grey and winterly days.

In the summer time the seats on the shadowy terrace or in the garden under the chestnuts are very popular and invite to have a break after shopping in Berlin’s oldest quarter.

The International kitchen with French finesse offers weekly changing day and evening menus. Our speciality “The secret of the Kaiserhof” is a dish that the kitchen chef of the hotel Kaiserhof once created for the artist Max Liebermann. The recipe of the sauce is still a secret.

Our philosophy is that you can eat and drink everything from a Croissant and a coffee to an exclusive full-course menu with vintage champagne.

The restaurant was opened in 1991. Before that there had been several Fastfood restaurants. The location has been enlarged so that there are nearly 120 seats available. The restaurant divides into two areas, the restaurant area and the bistro area with two small corners. The small corner offers space for up to 8 guests and the big corner offers space for up to 12 guests. In the summer time we also have nearly 50 seats on the terrace and about 80 seats in the garden.
